Discovery Education’s Techbooks provide standards-based educational content in a digital format for middle school and high school levels. The challenge was to create a visual design that embodied the Discovery brand — the largest non-fiction media brand in the world — and engage students using a variety of content and media. The product had to provide opportunities for students to think, investigate, interact, and complete activities, all while feeling approachable. In addition, the courses might be viewed on a laptop, tablet, or interactive white board so it had to be responsive and work across different platforms delivered via web browsers.
